Johansen Music Studio
East Hampton, NY
As a professional concert pianist with training from Juilliard and the Music
Department at Hofstra, I knew more than enough about music to teach private piano
lessons.
However, I discovered the children coming to me for lessons were not well prepared.
I spent a lot of time trying to catch them up on their listening abilities. As
I had my own children, I wanted to find a way to help them get a better start.
Musikgarten provided the training to help me understand how children learn music
and develop their bodies to be ready to play an instrument. I was able to incorporate
Musikgarten into my own studio. Now I have a studio with 80 children and still
have time to practice 30 hours a week for my paying performances.

Croney Musikgarten
Tremonton, UT
As a Piano Pedagogy graduate of Utah State
University, I spent my early years in a university setting teaching music to
children. I loved teaching my students, but found it could be frustrating.
As
I had my own children, I realized that knowing music and knowing children were
not one in the same. I needed to understand how children learn music.
In 1998,
I enrolled in a Musikgarten workshop. Soon I began to better interpret the signals
my students had been sending me all along. This new training helped me connect
with my students and teach music more effectively.
Today my small town studio
has grown to almost 100 students. Musikgarten’s training made a huge difference
in my teaching and understanding of children. |
